This is a question long milled over by the ancients of Asgard, but never truly answered until I, The Rick Black, sat down to type out this lengthy diatribe on the subject matter. With that being said, let us start with the basics.
Rick Black is a 39-year-old male born in 1981, just four days prior to Ronald Reagan being sworn in as President of the United States. (Remember these details there will be a quiz later.) He grew up in Kenova, WV, a small town outside the dying metropolis of Huntington, WV. He graduated high school in 1999 and attended Marshall University, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, with an emphasis on Mathematics and Social Studies at the Middle School level in 2004.
Since 2004, Rick has worked as a professional educator. During these past 16 years, Rick has taught 6th and 7th grade Social Studies, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Mathematics, Algebra I, and served as a Data and Instructional Coach. He focuses on the numbers to determine if the instruction is working and how to fill in the knowledge gaps that may exist in a student’s learning. He also earned his Master of Arts degree in Secondary Education in 2013.
Rick has also had a tie to video games since an early age. Rick discovered his love of video games when he received an Atari 7800 at a young age. From there he moved on to the NES, Super NES, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, GameCube, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and finally settling into PC gaming roughly four years ago. This love of video games lead to a desire to begin streaming on Twitch (www.twitch.tv) sometime in 2014.
Once this love of games had manifest itself in streaming that love on Twitch, he took a massive interest in Graphic Design. He had a vision for his stream but could not find the right person to help him bring that design to life for his channel. Primarily self-taught, Rick focuses on a unifying design for a stream channel that promotes quality over quantity and helps to give the broadcaster that professional look he believes all streams should have.
